Moderation rules and requirements for Telegram Ads campaigns

Once an advertisement is created, it undergoes a review process to ensure compliance with the platform's technical and ethical standards.

Moderation Turnaround Time:

  • 24 - 48 hours on business days.
  • Operating Hours: 08:00 to 22:00 UTC.

1. Prohibited Categories

  1. Graphic and Shocking Content: Violence, gore, sexual content (18+), or vulgar imagery.
  2. Hate Speech and Discrimination: Harassment, incitement of hatred, insults toward individuals or brands, and derogatory language.
  3. Finance and Earnings: Ponzi schemes, "get-rich-quick" schemes, income guarantees, insider investment advice, trading "signals," and unlicensed cryptocurrency offers.
  4. Gambling: Betting, casinos, sports forecasting, and lotteries.
  5. Medicine and Health: Unlicensed medical services/products, supplements (BAPs), and unrealistic health improvement promises.
  6. Substances and Weapons: Drugs, alcohol, tobacco (including vapes), weapons, explosives, and related items.
  7. Software and Hacking: Malware, hacking services, spam software, and engagement manipulation (buying views/subscribers).
  8. Dating: Advertisements for dating services, bots, or channels are prohibited.
  9. Sensitive Topics: Politics, religion, and third-party rights violations.

2. Ad Copy Requirements (Creative)

Your ad copy is your business card; it must be concise and restrained. Below are the rules and recommendations from our team for creating high-quality creatives:

Recommendations:

  • Style: Use a calm, neutral tone. Instead of aggressive calls to action, offer a solution (e.g., "Learn which methods influence income growth").
  • Address: Use formal address ("You").
  • Length: Copy must not exceed 160 characters, including spaces, punctuation, and emojis.
  • Typography: Ensure correct usage of punctuation and symbols. Distinguish between em-dashes (—) for emphasis and hyphens (-) for words.

Prohibitions:

  • Punctuation: Excessive use of punctuation is prohibited. Specifically, no more than one exclamation mark (!) is allowed per advertisement.
  • Informal Address: The use of informal or over-familiar address (slang/informal "you") is strictly prohibited by platform regulations.
  • Superlatives: The use of superlatives and subjective claims (e.g., "the best," "No. 1," "top-notch," "unique," "best of all") is forbidden.
  • Data Veracity: Using unverified data or misleading users is prohibited. Text must be transparent and clear, without hidden meanings.
  • Content Alignment: The ad copy must strictly align with the content of the advertised object (channel, bot, or website). A change of topic (e.g., leading to a crypto offer from a design-related text) will result in rejection.
  • Earnings Claims: Any promises of specific earnings ("make $5,000 a day"), guaranteed returns, or "fairy tale" lifestyle promises are prohibited.
  • Formatting: All-caps (except for approved brand names), clickbait, excessive spacing (l i k e t h i s), bold, italics, and underlining are prohibited.

3. Telegram Channel Requirements

Your channel must provide value to subscribers and be updated regularly. The following requirements ensure a successful moderation process:

Recommendations:

  • Naming: Keep it concise. Do not use all-caps, emojis, or aggressive calls to action in the channel name.
  • Audience: A minimum of 100 subscribers is required (400+ is recommended for smoother moderation).
  • Content: Publish useful, original content 2–3 times a week. Stick to a specific niche; "general interest" channels are difficult to approve.
  • Link Placement: We do not recommend placing links directly within the ad copy—this often leads to rejection. Use the designated URL field instead.

Prohibitions:

  • Style and Tone: Clickbait, superlatives, derogatory language, and aggressive messaging are prohibited. Avoid excessive use of emojis, exclamation marks, or all-caps in posts.
  • Guarantees: Guaranteeing 100% results or instant wealth within the channel content is forbidden.
  • Formatting: Avoid over-formatting text with colors, bold, or underlining in a way that hinders readability.
  • Prohibited Themes: Channels dedicated solely to trading "signals," betting, or gambling are not permitted.
  • Approved Formats:
    • Channels/Bots: t.me/namechannel or @namechannel.
    • Specific Posts: t.me/namechannel/123.
    • Deep Links: For bots, links with start parameters are allowed (e.g., t.me/name_bot?start=ABC).
    • External Sites: Direct links to websites (e.g., https://yourwebsite.com).
    • Invite Links: Allowed only in the URL field (prohibited in the ad copy text).
  • Limits and Macros: Only one external link is allowed in the URL field. We do not accept links containing macros (dynamic tracking parameters like {click_id}, etc.).
  • In-Text Links: If an additional link is used in the text (e.g., @link), it must point to the same destination as the primary URL field.
  • Redirects: Bots or websites created solely for the purpose of automatic redirection (gateways/landing pages) are prohibited. Within a channel, external links/redirects should appear no more than once every 3 posts.
  • Security: We only support the HTTPS protocol. HTTP links are not accepted. The use of URL shorteners (bit.ly and similar) is strictly prohibited.

4. Telegram Bot Requirements

A bot should be a functional service with transparent navigation. Below are the core recommendations:

Naming and Identity:

  • Relevance: The bot’s name must accurately reflect its purpose.
  • Style: Clickbait in the name is forbidden. All-caps are allowed only for major brands by prior agreement.
  • Menu: A brief overview of the bot's features with navigation buttons.
  • About/Company: Information regarding the offer, brand, or expert.
  • Contacts: Direct links to a website or support.
  • Submit Request/Purchase: A clear description of the product/service and a button to contact a manager or proceed to checkout.

Technical Mechanics:

  • Quizzes and Polls: Results must vary based on user input. Identical outcomes regardless of answers will result in rejection.
  • Lead Generation: Test results must be provided freely before requesting data. Asking for a phone number or email before showing the result is prohibited. Data collection is only allowed after the result is shown, with a clear opt-out option.
  • Web Apps: Bots leading to Web Apps must provide independent value first. Bots that immediately and automatically redirect the user to a Web App upon launch will be rejected.
  • Messaging Frequency: Bots must not spam. The maximum allowed frequency is 3 messages per day. "Pushy" messaging every few minutes is prohibited.

5. General Best Practices

  • Stability: Ensure your bot or website loads quickly and functions without errors. Bot commands must work seamlessly on both Desktop and Mobile devices.
  • Consistency: Landing page content must align 100% with the promises made in the advertisement.
  • Policy on Changes: Changing a channel’s name, avatar, or description during an active campaign will automatically trigger a re-moderation of all ads.
